Looms, water and moving

When I first installed the loom we had a leak causing the loom to get wet within a few weeks of putting on the first warp. Three weeks ago we discovered that the floor under the loom was wet again. This time the leak was a burst water pipe going to an outside tap. We moved the Weavebird out of the way and we are still going through the process of drying out.

Last week the ceiling right above the loom started dripping again! The loom has a 10 meter warp of 16/2 cotton and is ready to weave. Again I've dried the loom thoroughly and we used one of the industrial ventilators to dry the area. I have not had the courage to start the loom up again but will do so soon and I'm expecting all will be well.

Meanwhile, we have discovered a very easy method to move the Weavebird. It is a 32 shaft loom, 36 inches wide and quite heavy. Doug has built a little platform with four strong wheels. We lift the back of the loom slightly and slide the pltform under the back. Then we can lift the front and just wheel the loom around. It works like a charm.  I'm ready for the next flood!!

I understand that you have

I understand that you have now had you studio area dried out and restored. Since it must now be ready for weaving again we all look forward to a progress report on your tea towel project. Happy weaving!
